Natural East (formally People Tree) started in the small town of Holt in 1996 and served the close knit community for almost 20 years before moving on the pastures new. We send our love and support to owners and staff at Budgens Holt and hope they are back up and running soon.
- A town’s only supermarket has been destroyed by fire, leaving the family-run company “utterly heartbroken”.
- Eight fire crews and 14 appliances were called to the fire at its height and brought it under control. More than 100 firefighters worked through the night on Saturday, June 20 to quell the flames and stop the blaze spreading to other buildings.
- The shop, which contained a post office and laundrette, was vacant at the time and no one was hurt. A ‘pop-up’ post office could be set up in Holt as part of the recovery from a devastating fire which destroyed the town’s only supermarket.
- An appeal for people to “show their appreciation” to the employees of Holt’s Budgens supermarket has now raised more than £5,100. The appeal, which can be found on www.crowdfunder.co.uk, is not designed to substitute for financial support which could come from councils or the government, but as a separate initiative that can boost morale.
